Home and business owners have to weigh maintenance expenses carefully to ensure that they are making the best financial decisions for the home or business. Sometimes those choices are harder to make when you are unsure of the criteria needed to make a decision.  That is often the case when deciding between making a repair to your toilet or replacing the toilet.

If you are having a hard time deciding whether you need to make some repairs to your toilet, or just replace your toilet, we may be able to help in your decision making process. Answering a few questions will help determine the best way to proceed with your toilet part replacement or new toilet installation:

  • Do you have a toilet tank that is slow to fill?
  • Is your toilet running for too long after a flush?
  • Is the handle loose or ineffective in flushing?
  • Does your toilet clog frequently?
  • Does your toilet leak around the base?
  • Are there cracks in the porcelain?
  • Is your toilet getting harder to keep clean?

Answering “yes” to two or more of these may mean forgoing repairs and just replacing the whole toilet.
This will mean more money up front, but it will save you in time and repairs in the long term.  A new toilet usually means water savings, which translates into saving money.

If you answered “no” to most of these and only have a wiggly handle or a tank that is slow to fill, replacing the interior parts may buy you some time before the entire toilet needs to be replaced.  Replacing the handle, flapper or fill valve are repairs that are pretty straightforward and can be cost effective, especially if it is a newer toilet that simply gets a lot of use.  Replacing a wax seal at the base is a repair that is straightforward, but of course requires that the toilet be uninstalled and reinstalled, so it a bit more time consuming, but worth it to prevent water leak damaged to floors.

That Plumber can replace the flapper, handle and/or fill valves, saving water and the aggravation of listening to a toilet run all the time.  Just give us a call at 330-583-1404 for an appointment!

That Plumber was able to completely replace the drain trap and water lines under my kitchen sink in our circa 1930 home in under an hour. I appreciate the way Jason was able to get the entire job done, cleaned up, and had our sink useable again so quickly!

Came out on an emergency call to fix a broken water line that was connected to our washer. Water was everywhere and we had to turn off the main water line to the house. It wasn’t a call we wanted to make at 11p.m. on a Friday night but we didn’t have a choice. Fixed in less than an hour. Jay and his crew are the best! We trust them and they do awesome work.
